Family Day at Oz

Family Day is OZ Arts’ annual public festival of indoor and outdoor arts activities for young people and families, designed to spark creativity, activity, and imagination. Dispersed among the grounds of OZ Arts, dozens of local artists and community organizations set up activity stations enabling kids to tap into their imagination while having fun with friends and family members.

Being a big kid myself, I enjoyed the skate show, the Chinese dancing instructions, and all the other fun activities at this event.

Raymond and Nancy's wedding

Raymond and Nancy got married on a gorgeous September day. The skies were blue, the wind was cool and not your typical scorching September weather in Nashville. They had their ceremony in the beautiful church of St. Mary's in downtown Nashville. The reception was held in a lovely room of ceiling to floor windows at the Hilton Doubletree Inn across the street. I love shooting weddings, and wish Raymond and Nancy many years of love and happiness!

Nashville Creative Group's 5-year Birthday Party

Beth Inglish started the Nashville Creative Group as a way for creatives to get together, show their work, and discuss ways to remain sustainable in a tough marketplace. It's been a great way for creatives to meet each other, network, and collaborate. When I first moved to Nashville 3 years ago, the Creative Group was where I made my first friendships, friendships that I still have to this day. I am grateful to Beth Inglish and the Nashville Creative Group and I know many people in this city are too.

Beth Inglish has done a lot for the creative community, and many of us came together to celebrate the 5-year anniversary of the Creative Group. Here's to 5 more years of sharing ideas and supporting each other!

Austin's Surprise Proposal to Randi

I love doing surprise proposals! The girl is so shocked, often to emotional tears, and it's quite moving. In Austin and Randi's case, he proposed to her on the rooftop of the George Jones Museum, and when she said yes, the rest of the bar erupted in applause. It was fantastic!

Led by an auctioneer, the crowd delighted in trying to outbid each other for the sake of charity.

Skedaddle app Hits CMA Fest

Skedaddle is an app that allows travelers to reserve a seat on a professionally driven luxury bus with others headed in the same direction. An East Coast company, it has  taken the country by storm with buses all over the country.

Skedaddle had one of their buses parked at CMA Fest. They invited people who were passing by to come on the air-conditioned bus and take a break from the heat. Not only was it cool and comfy on the bus, there were also lots of local musicians on board like Ponce and Mountains Like Wax.  A super fun part of CMA Fest this year!

Chess Super Nationals at Opryland

The Chess Super Nationals of 2017 was held at Opryland this month. It was put on by the United States Chess Federation. I was hired by American Chess Magazine to cover the juvenile division. Even though these are kids, they are masters. The concentration in the room was palpable and you could hear the wheels turning in the kids' heads as they plotted their next move. There was a book signing by Chess Master Gary Kasparov and other chess activities throughout the resort.

Bootstraps Foundation

The Bootstraps Foundation  raises money for kids with hardships. Through their fundraising, they are able to provide scholarships for the teenagers to attend college. Hearing some of their stories was heartbreaking, but inspiring in the human resilience to continue in the face of struggle. The evening was a success and raised a lot of money for the students to continue their education and follow their dreams.

Bernice's 100th Birthday

Bernice turned 100 the other day and friends and family came from all over the country to wish the beautiful lady a Happy Birthday. Bernice still has her wits about her, so she was relishing in all the attention. It's amazing to see someone turn 100, and I'm honored that I was there to capture the celebration.

NAMA Power Luncheon

Every month they hold a Power Lunch where experts in their specific field give a seminar about professional practices which attendees can enjoy over a delicious lunch.

This month's Power lunch was held at City Winery  where content marketing expert Joe Pulizzi  shared some of his knowledge. It was a fun and super educational event!

Kelly and Lisa

The weather proved to be beautiful for Kelly and Lisa's wedding! The sun came out and it was an unseasonably warm day for late winter. Their wedding was tons of fun and I'm so glad that I was there to be able to capture it! One of the highpoint of their wedding was when they invited everybody to come out to the dance floor during their First Dance. That gesture showed just how important their friends and family are to them. Loved being there to photograph it!

Josh Gracin at Tin Roof

If you haven't heard of Josh Gracin yet, get yourself down to a record store and buy his latest CD. He's rocking. I had the pleasure of photographing his CD release party at Tin Roof and it was jumping. Not only was the crowd going crazy, but Josh himself couldn't stand still. Not only are his songs great, but he is such a great performer that it really was a treat to be able to see him in action. Following his performance, was an afterparty on the second roof of Tin Roof.
